Questions & Answers
Can you explain a little more about how TMS works? Transcranial magnetic stimulation?
Thank you for your question!
Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) is an FDA-approved, non-invasive treatment for depression and other mental health conditions. It uses magnetic fields to stimulate specific areas of the brain that are underactive in people with depression.
Here’s how it works:
A magnetic coil is placed gently on your scalp, targeting the prefrontal cortex, the area of the brain involved in mood regulation.
The magnetic pulses stimulate brain activity, helping to improve communication between brain cells and alleviate depressive symptoms over time.
TMS is conducted in a series of sessions, typically 5 days a week for several weeks, with each session lasting about 20-40 minutes.
It’s a safe option for those who haven’t found relief from medications or prefer a drug-free treatment. Patients remain awake and alert during the procedure, and there’s no downtime—you can resume daily activities immediately after!
We’d be happy to discuss more.
do you see children?
